What to Wear When Travelling by Plane, So That You Feel & Look Your Best on Arrival.

One of the most exciting parts of travel is undoubtedly the preparation. Working out what to wear and when is as much a part of the organisational process as the geographical logistics. We want to look and feel our best when we venture abroad. But what about the journey getting there?

Arriving to your chosen destination feeling worse for wear is no way to start a dream trip. To avoid feeling uncomfortable during your flight journey, it’s important to plan your wardrobe ahead of time. Doing so could prevent an array of style disasters - and discomfort - later on.

There is no rule that says that comfort cannot be paired with style. Despite what you may have been told, it’s entirely possible to look and feel great at the same time. All you need are a few key tips to get you started. Which is where this article is going to come in handy!

Firstly, choose outfits which are breathable and loose fitting. Tight jeans are not going to feel good after hours of sitting on a plane. Restrictive clothing could also prevent circulation which could be harmful for your wellbeing. Linens and organic cottons are a great place to start.

Most airports will ask you to remove boots and accessories during security processing. To avoid hassle, choose flat or low-heel slip on shoes. Forego belts and hats altogether. Your check-in experience will be much smoother and you will also avoid the awkwardness of undressing publicly.

No matter how long your flight is, you’ll want to feel fresh upon arrival. Roll-pack a fresh outfit into your hand luggage, not forgetting clean underwear. You’ll be amazed at how much better you’ll feel by dressing in fresh fabrics before landing into your travel destination.

On board air-conditioning can be very severe. Take a stylishly oversized pullover with you. It can double as a pillow and a cosy layer for chiller moments. Taking a large holdall or basket on to the plane will be useful when it comes to taking bulkier items like these on board.

Does your hair suffer the unfortunate effects of cabin fever? Pack a classic scrunchie along with a travel-sized pot of coconut oil. Use them to slick hair into a stylish low bun (or smoothed crop for short hair) while topping up skin with vital moisture towards the end of your flight.

If you prepare only one item, make it a large silk scarf. This ‘cannot travel without’ accessory can be used to dress up even the most casual of loungewear outfits. Simply drape over shoulders, use to wrap your hair in 50’s movie style, or wear as a shawl when landing into cooler climates.

Most importantly, choose the clothing pieces that make you feel good. Let go of insta-perfect image hunting in order to focus your attention on the outfits that will make you feel your best wherever you travel.

Enjoy the flight - your way!
